INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS UPDATE - APRIL 2025

1. Middle East Peace Developments


Palestine and Israel's ongoing conflicts have subdued, at least for now. New diplomatic efforts by Qatar and the EU have reignited new rounds of negotiations for a peaceful settlement. It is promising that there is a willingness to recall their steadfast positions and participate in the negotiations.



2. Ukraine Conflict and Global Response


The Ukraine conflict is entering its third year and fighting remains intense in the east. NATO has committed to further resources, with peace discussions currently taking place under the United Nations supervision. There has been a significant increase in international humanitarian assistance, given the worsening crisis.





3. China and Taiwan Relations


The relationship between Taiwan and China continues to be one fueled by tension. Following China's recent military exercises around the Taiwan Strait, allied forces have pledged renewed support for Taiwan. All nations are strongly encouraged to advocate for peaceful communication between the two sides.



4. Climate Diplomacy and Green Transitions


Greenhouse gas emissions and global warming continues to be one the leading issues affecting the world today. Heads of state are actively preparing for COP30, slated to occur in Brazil. Major points of concern will be centered around climate funding for developing countries and accelerating the globe’s adaptation to renewable sources of energy.





5. Global Economic Shifts


The IMF recently changed it's global growth forecast. Recovery in Asia is cited as being notably strong, while performance in Europe is sluggish. While the U.S. and China are expected to continue enforcing tr
